I thought about starting a blog:

The Ramblings and Ravings of a 31 year old housewife aware of her own mortality.
Today I Google searched "Start a salon" and the ONLY things I could find were how to start a hair salon. I hunger for real, intellectual conversation!
Where can I find a salon for THINKING people?!!!
So, I am thinking about my own mortality. There is something wonderfully romantic about reading Shakespeare's sonnets about how quickly our bloom fades.
I am currently reading "Never Eat Your Heart Out" by Judith Moore. It is a memoir told through the frame of food memories.
I first learned about Judith Moore when I saw her book, "Fat Girl: A True Story" on the bookshelf at Barnes and Noble. I read it almost in one sitting. It was that raw, touching, real. I could relate strongly to many of her memories, of being fat and being ashamed. Shame is such a legacy in my family. What with sexual abuse, poverty, obesity, and addiction, it's no wonder we have a legacy of shame!
Please, God, allow my child to escape this legacy. I'm concerned about him being overweight at age 3. He has quite a tummy and I want him to be happy, strong, healthy--and free of the addiction to food that has troubled me as far as I can remember. He does beg for ice cream daily. And McDonald's when he sees the "golden Arches of death."
One of my therapists told me to write about my memories and experiences in getting fired from jobs, and to look for patterns.
1st job ever:
12 years old (7th grade at Swanson) babysitting for the family up the street
Babysitting for neighbor Alison
Babysitting for a friend of her family--baby boy
Babysitting for Church group--shut up controversy, Zorro, basements, and dirty cloth diapers!

First "real" job: Errol's video which became Blockbuster Video. Started working with a guy name Frank, who was super nice. He quickly left and was replaced by the evil Mohammed. A mean creep.
1993 fall: Pharmacy technician at CVS (formerly People's Drug) in Lyon Village. Was allergic to the hog hair carpets. Lasted about 2 weeks or so then I quit.
1994: Time Life Libraries. Worked as a telemarketer for about 1.5 years. Problems with some coworkers and some supervisors.
1996: Nanny for family in Fairfax, VA.
1997: Nanny for family in Vienna, VA. Lived in their basement for about 3 months. Then nanny for family in Herndon, VA.
1997-1998: Nanny live-in for family in Fairfax Station, VA.

1990: Age: 15 Fall 1989-Spring 1990 Freshman year. Met Cyrus. Weighed about 175. Acted that fall (?) in Medea.

1992: Age: 17 Fall 1991-Spring 1992, Junior year.

1994: Age: 19 July 2004 started diet pills regimen with Dr. Lee at Kaiser Permanente. Started in July at 216 pounds and got down to 175 pounds or so in late August.

2004 Age: 29 Child born in February. Started Strayer job in March. Lots of hormones. Bad birth experience. Tough pregnancy, tough birth, tough post partum depression!
2005 Age: 30 August 2005 or so decided to pursue weight loss surgery. Went through the process of getting many tests, but did not do finishing steps: getting CPAP.
2006 Age: 31 Spring 2006, Summer 2006, Fall 2006 all seem like a blur now. I don't remember where we went and when. I know it was a really rough year. I know that the winter was incredibly mild, even to the point of having a hot January 2007. All of suddent then it turned freezing cold.
2007 Age: 32, Winter came all of a sudden in late January (the day we came back from a trip to Key West, FL) and then we had a horribly cold and yucky late January, February, and March. It was hot and sunny almost until January 2007 (some days were hot!) and then we got cold The winter seemed to drag out this way and was very depressing. weight as of 5/2007 around 300 pounds. Lowest post partum weight was around 285.
